Race# 40 - NCC Tour of Hilltowns
This has been the season of the long breakaway for me. After about ten miles of racing Alex and I were in a eleven man move that quickly built up a three minute lead. We averaged 27mph in the first hour. When we hit the climb of East Hawley Rd the pace picked up and six of us went over the top together. On the decent we were joined by a five man bridging group from the field and again we had eleven at the front of the race. We continued to motor along. On the highway climb to the line everyone threw what they had at the race and the group shattered. I managed to grab 6th just behind my new cyclocross teammate Dan Timmerman. In case anyone is curious the finish time was sub four hours.
Four hour drive home and then up at 4am for the CRCA club championship the next day…
