Race #42 Tour of the Catskills Stage 2
I don’t say this lightly. Stage 2 of the Tour of the Catskills was the hardest day of bike racing I have ever done. I wanted to never race bikes again for probably like fifteen minutes afterwards. We went ape shit right from the gun. A selection was made on the second climb of the day (witch didn’t even register on the course profile) 6 miles in to a 97 mile stage. There was no cooperation in the break and we propelled our selves along by attacking each other every five minutes or so. We raced like it was a flat stage. When we hit Devi’s Kitchen everyone just crawled in to their own personal little hell and stayed there for 5 kilometers. I just had to keep convincing my self to not get off and walk. At the finish I jumped from 60th on GC to 13th. But I seriously doubted my ability to finish the next day.
Thanks to Gavin for the photos and the numerous feeds along the way.
